Long Lesson, Lugging Manga, and Dinner With Yuka

Saturday (28th) I had another 3 hour lesson at Mushashino that went pretty well. The first group there were a couple of people new to playing the ryuteki so we played some simple songs and didn’t do to much new stuff but that was fine because I was a little tired. The second group was the more experienced group. I played a little with them but they were doing songs that I didn’t have the music for and that were new to me so I ended up listening a lot.

Again, I didn’t mind since I was tired. I did end up going back to get the manga I had seen the day before though and let me tell you that I seriously underestimated the weight of 50 volumes of manga as I lugged it back to the center. After I came back to the center I put my manga down and lay down on my bed because I had easily been hefting about 15 pounds of manga around. I had been thinking of going out again but I really needed a nap.

So I watched some TV and ended up falling asleep. Somehow the ringing of my cell phone woke me up and I got up to see who it was. It was Yuka! I answered and she told me she was going to go shopping for a bit but then she was wondering if we should get together for dinner. I was very happy to hear from her and dinner sounded good. It was about a little after 6pm when she called so we made plans to meet at the north Marunochi exit of Tokyo station at 8:30pm.

I watched a little more TV including an anime and then headed out. I got to the meeting spot only about 5 minutes late and gave Yuka a call. She was still a little ways away so I hung out for a while waiting. She got there close to 9pm and we headed over to the Marunochi Building to see what restaurants they had. As it turns out we actually went into the Shin-Marunochi building by accident and while they have some very nice restaurants, including a churrascurria, they were all too expensive.

While we were walking I asked Yuka how she reacted to Terumi-san's husband asking her if she knew me. It was great to here her side. Apparently the man is like her boss or something and at first he said Pat not Patty and so she was confused and then when she figured out who he meant she was more confused. It's really quite funny the weird connections I have. =)

We went looking for a hamburger place Yuka knew about and that’s when we discovered we were in the wrong building. Whoops! So we went back outside and headed over to the right building where sure enough the burger place was on the 5 th floor. We had been chatting the whole time and it was nice to just hang out. It turns out Yuka hadn’t gotten much in the way of clothes but did get a few massagers. =)

The restaurant turned out to be a Hawaiian themed burger restaurant. We order our set meals and picked a table to chat at while we waited for our food. Man was the burger amazing. And the French fries and onion rings were good too. After we finished our food we sat around for a while just talking. All in all it was a very nice time. I didn’t even realize that it had gotten to be 11pm already.

We headed out and walked over to the Yurakucho train station. I said bye to Yuka and told her that if she had the chance we should try to get together one more time before I went home. Then we went our separate ways. On the train I found a fun source of amusement though. This Japanese guy gets on the train and after standing for a stop or two sits down. He then falls asleep. A little while later he somehow manages to slide entirely off his seat and onto the floor.

Now most people would wake up at this point, at least I know I would. But no, this guy is out cold and proceeds to flop over on his side sprawled out on the floor. People just kinda stare at him for a few stops, and a take a few pictures, until one guy decides to try to wake him up. He shakes him and nothing. He shakes him harder, still nothing. At this point another guy gets in on the act. He asks what’s up and the first guy says that it seems like he is just sleeping. So between the two of them they prop the guy up. The guy kinda wakes up at this point and they manage to get him back into his seat.

He manages to stay awake for a little while until he falls asleep again. After the seats next to him empty out he then falls over on his side on those seats asleep. I was highly entertained the entire way back home. I ended up getting back at about a little after midnight and it was the first time I actually had to ring the little bell they have so I could get in. I then puttered around a bit, got my things ready for the next day, and went to bed.
