So once again it has been about 5 days or so and I have haven't updated. Shame on me. So since I have internet connection here in Sendai, here I go!
This past Monday, the 16th, was a nice relaxing day for me. Since I had an evening class I didn't get up terribly early but I didn't sleep too late either. Terumi-san called me shortly after I had gotten up and asked if I had seen Casey. I told her I hadn't seen her since the night before and didn't know where she was. Terumi-san said that Casey hadn't shown up for a lesson yet, she was about 40 minutes late, and that she had been notified by Miyata-sensei. She asked me if I could go next door and knock to see if Casey was in her room. She wasn't so Terumi-san said she would try calling Casey's cell again. I felt bad I couldn't help but there wasn't much I could do.
After I got dressed and whatnot I went out to get some food. I went over to the 7-11 and finally got a couple of ichigo-sando. I had been wanting one for a while now and haven't had the chance to get one or they didn't have them when I did have time. I also picked up a chicken pasta salad.
I went back to my room and had some of the goodies I just picked up while I watched some TV. I am sad to admit that I have become addicted to a couple of dramas over here. The first one is called Last Friends and the one I'm more embarrassed to admit is that on the few occassions I've caught it I've been enthralling with Hana Yori Dango. I sure this doesn't mean much to people who dont know but Hanadan (as it's abbreviated) was an anime before it was a drama and I DISPISED it. I mean it was painful for me during anime club at Skiddy to watch it. But here I am loving the live action drama. Oh well.
So off I went to my first group lesson at Ono not really knowing what to expect and being a bit nervous to meet my sensei's father who teaches hichiriki there. I got there early and was the first ryuteki there apparently. We were going to be in another room which kinda confused me seeing as how it was supposed to be a group lesson. So I puttered around a bit and talked to the others. Then I went into the other room and took some pictures of the shrine they have in the room we were going to practice in.
After Okubo-sensei had arrived he decided that we should go to the other room because there was enough space. So we relocated and it was a very nice lesson. There were a couple of people playing koto in addition to the shos, ryutekis, and hichirikis. It was really nice to hear what it all sounded like when it was put together. After the lesson we were supposed to introduce ourselves to the hichiriki sensei, my sensei's dad, but also I was supposed to introduce myself to the sho sensei and vice-versa. However, the sho sensei and my sensei both left early so there went that idea.
We did get to introduce ourselves to the hichiriki sensei though and he was very nice. He even seemed a little friendlier than his son. After we finished with that we decided to talk as we walked back to the train station about the possibility of maybe procuring more funds for travel because that was the number one thing eating through our money. We talked all the way back to the station and I assumed that since Michael was the one so intent about asking Terumi-san that he was going to email her, but he never did to my knowledge.
We said by to Todd at the station since he was taking a different train home and got on the train we needed to get back to the center. On the ride back I told them about my fun day with Terumi-san the previous day and I ended up showing them pictures as we rode back. All in all it turned out to be a pretty good day.
